Florida State Seminoles are attempting to steal a committed player away from a recent National Championship program
The Florida State Seminoles are trying to get Aaron Thomas to flip from Ohio State.
It’s very easy to doubt the Florida State Seminoles when it comes to how they will be in 2025. Sure, that sounds a little hateful, but I’m sure you can all see why people don’t think they will be good, right?
In 2024 they won two games, and before you tell me, I know this is a completely different team. But, it’s still the same head coach in Mike Norvell, and people are doubting him. Now, I’m not one of those people, in fact, I have a ton of faith in Norvell. I especially have a ton of faith in him when I look at some of the recruiting he has done.
After a two win season, he has put together a few really good recruiting classes, including a 2026 class that is nearing the top ten in the country. And, they are trying to flip a player who would only make that go up, as he’s currently committed to Ohio State.
Seminoles trying to get Aaron Thomas to flip from Ohio State
Aaron Thomas is a three-star offensive tackle from Mountain Pointe High School in Phoenix, Arizona, who is committed to Ohio State’s 2026 recruiting class, and a guy who probably should be ranked higher than a three-star. At 6’7,” 300 pounds, he has the ideal size for a college tackle, especially in the BIG Ten, where the trenches are the most important aspect of the game.
He picked Ohio State over Texas A&M, Florida State, Texas, and Washington after visiting Columbus on a visit earlier this offseason. Thomas is the fourth offensive lineman in the Buckeyes’ 2026 class, joining Sam Greer, Maxwell Riley, and Tucker Smith. And, yes, while the Buckeyes just won the National Championship, and the Seminoles won just two games, you still can’t count out Mike Norvell.
Ohio State offered Thomas a scholarship in March 2025 after he impressed during a spring visit. He was drawn to the program’s history of sending offensive linemen to the NFL and felt confident in the program’s plan to develop his skills.
Ranked No. 439 nationally and No. 36 among tackles by 247Sports, some believe he could rise to four-star status by his senior year. If that does happen, and the Seminoles flip him sometime before National Signing Day, it would be a huge win for Norvell and co.
Thomas’s father, Eric, played center at Florida State, making the Seminoles a strong contender. So, there is more going for FSU than you may think. And, I’m sure the idea of him not having to battle with as many players for playing time sounds ideal, too.
While he may need a couple of years to develop, his size and athleticism suggest he could start by his third year, or, who knows, even before that. Recent rumors of a potential flip to Florida State emerged in August 2025, but Thomas reaffirmed his commitment to Ohio State. But, like I said before, I wouldn’t count it out. The Seminoles are not giving up.
