Former USC Trojans Heisman quarterback Matt Leinart tells Barstool’s Dave Portnoy how he really feels
Matt Leinart, the former USC Trojans Heisman quarterback, let Dave Portnoy know how he really feels on Twitter/X.
The USC Trojans are set to play the Michigan Wolverines at home on Saturday. This is a game where unranked USC, coming off a bye week, is looking for an upset over No. 15 Michigan. However, not many think the Trojans can do that, and a guy by the name of Dave Portnoy is one of them.
Portnoy is the President, Owner, Founder, CEO, or whatever his newest title is, of Barstool Sports, a media outlet covering sports and pop culture that is very, very popular, and has now inked some pretty cool deals, like one with Fox Sports, where they have their own show and are part of Big Noon Kickoff.
On Big Noon Kickoff, oftentimes USC Trojans Heisman quarterback Matt Leinart, and he told Portnoy exactly how he feels this week ahead of the matchup, but in a hilarious way.
Matt Leinart and Dave Portnoy hilariously trash-talk each other
Portnoy, a huge Michigan Wolverines fan and donor, has been on Big Noon Kickoff this season and posted a message before the show on Saturday.
“Breaking: I will announce on Big Noon Kickoff whether I respect USC Football or not,” Portnoy wrote on Twitter.
“We don’t care Dave!” Leinart responded.
It’s all in good fun, as these two guys actually like one another, and Leinart made that clear in the comments. It makes for great content on Big Noon Kickoff that these back-and-forths happen during a week where the two fan bases play one another.
But, at the same time, Leinart is right, no one cares whether Portnoy respects USC or not, and USC fans definitely don’t care, because all they care about is winning football games, something they’ve done a good job of so far this season, but need to continue to do.
In this game last season, in The Big House, the Trojans barely lost. This team may be better than that one, so there is a chance. If the Trojans do win this game, they could find themselves back in the top 25.
