As of this writing Notre Dame has the second highest rated recruiting class behind only Notre Dame, and they're still rising. Marcus Freeman has been on a roll this past year with recruiting, but it hasn't just been on him and the staff. The incredible play, personality, and drive of Deuce Knight, the future at QB for Notre Dame has helped immensely too. And now his hype (and the Fighting Irish's with him) should continue to grow coming off his incredible performance this past weekend.

Deuce Knight was already considered one of the best quarterbacks in the nation heading into the OT7 Flag Football Championships, but he impressed more than perhaps any other recruit at the entire tournament. That kind of performance, paired with his momentum as a strong player recruiter make him perhaps the most important player for Notre Dame right now and he's not even officially on the team yet. Since his commitment last September, seven more blue chips have committed to the Fighting Irish. And now? We might see even more follow suit.

Deuce Knight's dominance at OT7

Knight represented the Coastline Stars flag football team on the OT7 circuit this season and had been impressing this spring already. But then he was unstoppable at the OT7 Championships, carrying a team that lacked the star power of some of the other squads there.

Just check out some of his best moments via the Rivals post below. It didn't matter if it was in the deep game, quick hits, or inside the red zone, Knight was deadly accurate and decisive.

Knight's decisiveness and intelligent reads of opposing defenses at all levels of the field shows up all over high school game, even against some of the toughest competition in the country. One of my favorite plays from the whole weekend of impressive games came on the Knight touchdown pass below. He checks his first read left, but then immediately knows where he's going with the ball on the deep corner based on leverage, easily placing the ball in a spot where only his receiver can grab it.

That kind of next level ball placement and quick decision making is going to set him apart at the next level when he joins Notre Dame in 2025. And it's that kind of play that he made all weekend long that won him the On3 MVP of the OT7 Championship!

Thanks to Deuce Knight's incredible performance in front of all the top recruits in the nation it's highly likely he continues rising up recruiting ranks and continues to sway more top players towards Notre Dame. Nathaniel Owusu-Boateng and Madden Faraimo are both linebackers trending towards the Fighting Irish as of this week. Plus, wide receivers Derek Meadows and Talyn Taylor (who was at OT7 himself) are also firmly in the mix.

Knight's rise to national dominance and prominence should definitely help coach Marcus Freeman as he's trying to close the deal here in the coming (most important) months of the recruiting calendar. We'll continue to monitor Notre Dame's incredible recruiting class all summer long and into the fall.
