An under-the-radar 2026 three-star recruit that's viewed as a hidden gem could land in Athens if he receives an offer from the Georgia Bulldogs.
2026 three-star edge rusher Chris Carbin isn't highly rated by the recruiting services, but he's receiving some interest from Georgia.
Carbin, 6-foot-4/215 lbs from Powder Springs, GA, is rated in 247Sports' composite rankings as the No. 59 edge rusher in the nation and the No. 63 player in the state of Georgia.
According to Rivals.com national recruiting director Adam Gorney, Georgia is "sniffing around pretty heavily" in Carbin's recruitment.
"Georgia Tech, South Florida and Wake Forest are standing out the most now to the Powder Springs (Ga.) Hillgrove standout but Georgia is sniffing around pretty heavily," noted Gorney this week. "Carbin was told the Bulldogs are looking for a true outside linebacker and he 'literally fits the description'. Georgia’s coaches will be by again during spring practice and if an offer comes it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Carbin commit on the spot."
"I want to develop and be the best player that I can be," said Carbin to 247Sports in January. "Going to the NFL is my dream, but I want to find my next home. I want to be somewhere that I can develop as a student and a player."
Kirby Smart and his staff are some of the best talent evaluators in college football (if not the best). If the Bulldogs are considering offering a low three-star recruit, it's a sign that the recruiting services most likely have it wrong.
We'll see if the Bulldogs actually end up offering Carbin, but it seems clear that Georgia at least has some interest in the talented edge rusher (Mississippi State, for what it's worth, offered Carbin earlier this year).
