Georgia football head coach Kirby Smart isn't going anywhere, but you can now buy his beautiful mansion in Athens, well if you have $4.2 million lying around.
According to Realtor.com, Smart has listed his seven-bedroom, 7.5-bathroom home located at 485 West Lake Dr, Athens, GA for sale.
The private Five Points neighborhood home is more than 7,100 square feet and sits on 2.2 acres.
Realtor.com's Jennifer Geddes walks viewers through Smart's Athens house, which was initially built in the 1920s and then remodeled in 2017 for Smart and his family:
“Elegance and history have been combined into one beautiful package here, with an original 1920s stone cottage attached to a newer home. A coffered ceiling graces the main room, which flows to a huge kitchen with professional-grade appliances. There’s a large island, a wine fridge, and a walk-in pantry with a coffee station.
"The primary bedroom is on the first floor and features a shiplap ceiling plus a lovely bathroom with a multihead shower, marble counters, and a soaking tub. The walk-in closet is like one you'd see in a boutique, with a storage island and shoe shelves fronted with mirrors."
Geddes notes there are two bedrooms upstairs along with a small library. Also, the stone cottage part of the house is used as a guest suite.
Smart Becomes Highest-Paid College Football Coach
There's no real rhyme or reason as to why Smart is moving out of his current home, but it might have to do with his new contract that currently makes him the highest-paid college football coach.
Georgia gave Smart a two-year extension, including a $1.75 million raise, plus up to $1.55 million in bonuses earlier this month.
The deal, which pays him $13 million annually, keeps him tied to Georgia through December 2033.
Perhaps Kirby thought an upgraded contract called for an upgraded home.
Smart has done a lot for the Georgia football program since he was named head coach in December 2015.
Over the last eight seasons, Smart has led the Bulldogs to back-to-back college football championship wins, seven straight New Year's Six Bowls, two SEC championships, and six SEC Eastern Division titles for an overall 94-16 record in 110 games. Smart has also produced 63 NFL draft picks — the most of any coach in college football history.
