Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs are taking recruiting to an extreme level with latest unusual offer that they extended
No recruit is safe from the Georgia Bulldogs and head coach Kirby Smart.
The college football recruiting world can be an extremely wild one, built around promises, compensation, flip season, and a large amount of anxiety. For the great programs across the country, building through the high school ranks is very important, even with the Transfer Portal now a hot topic of conversation.
When it comes to the Georgia Bulldogs under head coach Kirby Smart, they have made a living off of recruiting and developing a lot of tremendous football players. They are a program that has no issue pushing the envelope to make sure that they have the best roster possible. There is no stone left unturned.
Smart and the Bulldog staff extended an interesting scholarship offer this week to athlete Eli Knight, a 2030 recruit. Yes, you read that correctly. That means that Knight is still just an eighth grader, a rare feat for him to earn an offer from a powerhouse like Georgia. It isn’t unheard of, but it is rare.
Eli Knight – a potential elite recruit
Listed at 6-5 and 235 pounds, Knight has clips and highlights of him playing quarterback, tight end, and on defense. It’s pretty remarkable seeing a kid that young at that size, and it will be interesting to see how his body develops once he gets to high school. An offer like this is getting on the caliber of athlete, and waiting to see what position he fits best in the end.
We have seen some junior high offers extended in the past. The names such as JT Daniels and David Sills will probably bring back some interesting memories. There have certainly been some past success stories, but there have also been a ton of misses. Projecting that far forward can be a dangerous game. It will be interesting to see if Knight is one of the success stories or if his hype levels off a bit.
In four years from now, Knight will be signing his national letter of intent. If he ends up with the Georgia Bulldogs, that means that this team will be recruiting him for nearly half a decade. There most likely won’t be a single player on the team right now who will still be around, outside of the 2026 recruiting class that is just coming to campus. The recruiting world is wild, but these types of situations will always take the cake.
For now, write the name Eli Knight down. There is a strong possibility that he ends up being an elite recruit in the 2030 class.
