The Georgia Bulldogs are out in front, albeit just barely, for one of the nation's most coveted 2026 recruits.
Georgia (along with Oregon, South Carolina, and Auburn) is in hot pursuit this spring/summer of 2026 five-star quarterback Jared Curtis.
For now, 247Sports' Tom Loy has Georgia at the top for Curtis, who was previously committed to the Bulldogs for seven months.
"If I were to rank them right now, without a ton of confidence, I'd have Georgia at the top, then Oregon, followed up South Carolina, and Auburn rounding out the four," noted Loy this week.
"There has been plenty of movement within this group, so it's far from a done deal regardless," added Loy. "As I wrote earlier this week, the official visits and discussions during those trips will play a big role regarding his final decision."
Curtis, 6-foot-4/225 lbs from Nashville, TN, is rated in 247Sports' composite rankings as the No. 1 quarterback in the nation and the No. 2 overall player in the 2026 recruiting class.
The talented quarterback is set to take official visits to Auburn, Georgia, Oregon, and South Carolina. While Auburn and South Carolina are certainly in the mix, it's the Ducks and the Bulldogs who are viewed as the top contenders for Curtis.
We'll have a much better idea of which direction this recruiting battle is trending after Curtis takes his official visits. Georgia, though, is at least in a good spot for the highly-coveted recruit heading into those visits.
If the Bulldogs were to miss on Curtis, there are a couple of quarterback recruits that the program's kept in touch with that could land with Georgia.
Georgia currently has five players committed to its 2026 recruiting class, which is ranked No. 14 in the nation.
