Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs could be on the verge of making a huge (and unexpected) offseason addition.
Earlier this week, multiple reports indicated that elite 2026 cornerback J'Vari Flowers plans to reclassify to the 2025 recruiting class.
Flowers, who was rated in 247Sports' composite rankings as the No. 8 cornerback in the 2026 recruiting class, is an explosive athlete who has an extremely high ceiling.
The four-star recruit had an impressive showing at the recent Under Armour All-American game which significantly boosted his recruiting stock.
"J’Vari Flowers was the most dominant defensive back from start to finish at Under Armour," wrote On3's Cody Bellaire. "From Day 1 he started off strong with multiple pass breakups during the team and 7-on-7 periods. He followed up a strong Day 1 of practice with an even stronger Day 2, collecting two pass breakups and an interception during the team period. Flowers solidified his spot as a top performer in Thursday’s game, making an acrobatic interception off of K.J. Lacey, jumping a quick screen. He later came down with a late-game pass breakup, saving a touchdown. The Miami native’s instincts, and ability to mirror and play the ball at the catch point allowed for him to put on a show in Orlando."
Flowers can sign with a program beginning on February 5 when the traditional signing period gets underway. The talented recruit, however, doesn't have to sign next week — Flowers will have until April 1 to sign with a program.
The Miami Hurricanes have been viewed as the team to beat in this recruiting battle, but other programs, including Georgia, are making a run at the coveted cornerback after his strong performance at the Under Armour event.
“Since the Under Armour game there’s been a lot of recruitment going on,” said Flowers to On3. “My stock definitely jumped up after that game. Georgia came in the picture. Building a great relationship with Coach T-Rob (Travaris Robinson) and Coach Smart."
We'll see where this recruitment goes in the coming weeks, but I'd expect Georgia to make some serious noise here. Flowers has the skills and the elite athleticism to be one of the next great SEC cornerbacks who terrorizes quarterbacks. In other words, he'd be a perfect fit in Athens.
Update:
According to On3's Chad Simmons, Flowers will take an unofficial visit to Georgia this weekend.
Flowers also told On3 that he won't sign next week. Instead, he's going to "take some time" to make a decision.
