The Georgia Bulldogs are trailing in the early 2025 recruiting cycle, ranking outside of the top 10 at this early juncture. They could suffer a major loss if Florida State and Miami make headway as they push for a major talent. According to Chad Simmons of On3, 5-star tight end Elyiss Williams is still being pursued despite his hard commitment to the Bulldogs.

Kirby Smart might not be trembling yet, though. Williams said he's "locked in" with the Bulldogs, which would greatly reinforce a tight end room that will lose at least one body after this coming season. Williams, 6-foot-7 and 235 pounds, figures to take on the role Darnell Washington thrived in before developing into a third-round pick,

The Bulldogs have a second tight end commitment in the 2025 class. Ethan Barbour is ranked just three points lower than Williams, so the Alpharetta product is also impressive. At 6-foot-3, 235 points, he's more built like 2024 first-round pick Brock Bowers.

Georgia's looking to reload with an impressive array of 4-star commitments in next year's class. QB Ryan Montgomery, IOL Mason Short, RB Bo Walker, and both tight ends round out Smart's vision for the roster's future.

Sealing the deal on Williams in the NIL era might not be easy. Florida State doesn't have a great talent on the roster beyond this season. Losing Jaheim Bell was damaging, but Florida State's success with producing high-end playmakers was proven in 2023.

The Seminoles are also pursuing former Auburn commit Hollis Davidson. They have room to deploy both stars on the field at the same time. The pitch of immediate playing time in a pass-friendly offense and potential NIL offers could be interesting.

Finally, there's another NIL powerhouse looming in Miami. Georgia has terrific resources available, but Miami might have the deepest pockets in the nation. A last-second offer could swing Williams in their direction.

However, the Bulldogs have an elite pitch to any recruit. Their on-field success, NFL pipeline, and terrific coordinators make them a tough team to beat in any race.
