When people hear a list of “terrifying football players”, our minds tend to go to pure size. We think of some of these massive humans who seem to do superhuman things on a football. That perfectly describes Michigan defensive tackle Kenneth Grant, who is an imposing force in the middle of the Wolverine defense, coming in at No. 6 on the list.

While Grant doesn’t get as much publicity as his counterpart inside Mason Graham, one could argue that Grant is even the scarier athlete. Graham is without question the better player right now, and one of the top players in college football returning in 2024. Grant, however, is a unique defensive lineman that you aren’t going to find many of around the country.

The first thing that stands out about Grant is his massive frame. He is listed at 6-3 and 339 pounds, and let’s be honest, that 339 pounds looks very generous. If it was just about sheer size, you could marvel about Grant’s presence. That, however, isn’t the scariest part.

For a player this big, you would expect Grant to just be pure power and hold the point of attack. Then you see the Wolverine standout move, and things really get put into perspective. We are talking about a massive human being who does some freaky things athletically. Grant is explosive, quick, and can run.

Perhaps the even scarier part about Grant is he isn’t anywhere close to his ceiling. During the 2023 season, he showed the flashes, finishing with 29 total tackles, five tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, one interception, and five pass breakups. The highs were as high as anyone you will find in college football. Consistency will be the key heading into 2024.

That production Grant did have was built off of pure athleticism. The technical side of Grant’s game is still a work in progress. That’s the area, along with better conditioning, that he could take a massive jump as a junior.

If Grant can be a more consistent version of himself, we are talking about a special upside. If that happens, Graham and himself could create the best interior duo in all of college football. Grant could also be a player we could be talking about in the first round conversation of the 2025 NFL Draft. That’s how much raw talent he possesses.
