No. 10 Boise State is set to face off against No. 20 UNLV in a highly significant Group of Five matchup in college football history. The Broncos have enjoyed an impressive season, boasting an 11-1 record, with their sole loss occurring in a nail-biter against No. 1 Oregon. Boise State delivered a commanding 34-18 victory over Oregon State in their regular-season finale.

On the other hand, UNLV comes in with a 10-2 record, suffering their only defeats—by a combined total of just eight points—to Boise State and a 9-3 Syracuse team. Since a narrow two-point victory at Hawaii, the Rebels have been on fire, defeating San Diego State, San Jose State, and Nevada by a total margin of 56 points.

The two teams previously met in a closely contested game at Allegiant Stadium on October 25, where Boise State's Ashton Jeanty scored a crucial fourth-quarter touchdown with 12:38 left, leading the Broncos to a hard-fought win. The team that emerges victorious from the Mountain West Championship Game is poised to secure a spot in the College Football Playoff.

Following the latest CFP Rankings released on Tuesday, both UNLV and Boise State are seen as strong contenders for the Group of Five conference champion's place in the College Football Playoff. Should Boise State perform well, they could earn a first-round bye. Conversely, if UNLV claims victory, they may rank just behind the Big 12 champion but are likely to secure the 12-seed. The winner of this upcoming game will significantly elevate their national profile.
