A 2027 five-star recruit that’s committed to an SEC rival says LSU Tigers head coach Lane Kiffin has contacted him multiple times.

2027 five-star wide receiver Easton Royal, 5-11, 185 pounds from New Orleans, LA, has been committed to the Texas Longhorns since late November, but that hasn’t stopped other programs from continuing to pursue him.

And one of those programs is LSU.

Lane Kiffin is hoping to flip Easton Royal from Texas

Royal told 247Sports this week that Kiffin, who took over as LSU’s head coach shortly after the 2025 regular season wrapped up, has contacted him “multiple times.”

“Says Lane Kiffin has contacted him multiple times already, and Royal is ‘really paying attention’ to what LSU does moving forward,” wrote 247Sports’ Anna Adams. “Texas should draw him back to campus in January.”

The Tennessee Vols are also trying to flip Royal from Texas.

According to Adams, Royal will visit Tennessee in January. Miami and Florida are also in the mix for the five-star wide receiver.

Royal is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 3 wide receiver in the nation and the No. 1 player in the state of Louisiana. He’s also rated as the No. 12 overall player in the 2027 recruiting class.

There’s still a long way to go in this recruiting battle. And while Texas and Tennessee are making a strong case to land Royal, it would ultimately be a surprise if LSU doesn’t keep him in the state.
