Ole Miss outclassed LSU in almost every facet in their 24-19 upset of the Tigers on Saturday. Almost doubling the Tigers in first downs, dominating third downs, and creating 226 more offensive yards, the final score was much closer than the game seemed to be. LSU completely failed its major test, and Lane Kiffin was quick to celebrate his team’s 5-0 start.
The final margin was only so close because Ole Miss coughed up two turnovers and committed 14 penalties for 109 yards. The Rebels played like a young team, and those mistakes could’ve cost them if LSU had been any sharper. Instead, now Ole Miss appears to be an SEC favorite.
Kiffin’s X post simply reminded LSU head coach Brian Kelly of what was said earlier this week.
Lane Kiffin posts recent Brian Kelly statement after Ole Miss win
On Thursday, Kelly had said, “We’re looking forward to it. We’re going to keep that Magnolia Trophy right here in Baton Rouge, right where it deserves to be, and our guys are excited for the opportunity.” Kiffin posted an internal Ole Miss document that had that quote printed as motivation.
