The LSU Tigers were able to keep five-star defensive tackle Dominick McKinley within Louisiana in the 2024 recruiting class, and Brian Kelly is hoping to work that same angle on his brother. Darryus McKinley is a four-star tackle from Lafayette, Louisiana, and the Tigers just received word that he’s set to make his commitment announcement on Friday.

One of the top remaining uncommitted prospects in the class has made his final four of LSU, Texas, Florida, and Tennessee. The in-state prospect has been to LSU often, largely due to his brother’s recruitment throughout the last few years. It was easy for McKinley to parlay his relationship with Brian Kelly and his staff after hanging around for Dom’s pitches.

“It’s a very good learning experience and getting to know coaches and learning how to be coached. Seeing from my brother and how he’s doing and learning how to get it right and be the best person has been big,” McKinley previously told Rivals. “To do it all over again for myself — it was great. It was even better this time around.”

McKinley is considered a strong lean to LSU, with On3’s RPM metric putting the Tigers at an incredible 99% chance of committing. That might be a tad high because there’s always room for a surprise, but the class’ 26th-ranked interior defender has upside to be a notable pull for Kelly’s staff.
