Brian Kelly and the LSU Tigers continue to clean up on the recruiting trail this offseason. If it isn't with official commitments, it's locking up future visits. If not freshman, it's top transfers LSU is bringing in. But now, as of this weekend, the team locks in even more great news for the 2026 recruiting class.
Special four star LSU wide receiver commit Kenny Darby announced that he would be shutting down his recruitment, going all-in with the Tigers. He was quoted as a saying, "LSU suits me best. And the best in the boot (Louisiana) stay in the boot."
Kenny Darby is not kidding when he says that the best in-state talent usually stays in Louisiana. Just last season alone LSU brought in 17 true freshman from the state of Louisiana. Now, five of their six recruits fully committed for the 2026 cycle are also in-state players too. Brian Kelly and company are making sure they keep the best talent home.
Kenny Darby is a freakishly productive wide receiver recruit from Bossier City, LA who snagged 100+ receptions for nearly 1800 yards and 24 scores last fall. He is a speedy, explosive, agile, and smart player who can win in a variety ways.
Inside. Outside. In-motion pre-snap. Darby is a highly rated four star wide receiver for a reason, but his advanced technique for his age might boost him much higher by the time the 2026 recruiting class is finalized.
Darby was already committed to LSU prior to "shutting down" his recruitment journey, but this a huge win for the Tigers. This makes just one fewer recruiting slot and personality to manage for Brian Kelly and his staff over the next year as they continue building another top five to ten overall class for the 2026 cycle.
If Coach Kelly keeps winning with recruitments like this there's a great chance he gets the LSU roster in a good enough spot to push for the College Football Playoff much sooner than later. Let's hope more LSU Tigers recruits follow suit and go all-in.
