Brian Kelly and the LSU Tigers landed a key 2026 recruit last summer when four-star defensive lineman Richard Anderson announced his commitment to LSU.
Anderson, 6-foot-3/340 lbs from New Orleans, LA, is rated in 247Sports' composite rankings as the No. 4 defensive lineman in the nation and the No. 3 player in the state of Louisiana. He's also rated as the No. 49 overall player in the 2026 recruiting class (he's not far off from being a five-star recruit).
Other programs have continued to pursue Anderson despite his commitment to LSU, but the four-star defensive lineman isn't planning on flipping.
Anderson told 247Sports this week that he's locked in with LSU and "completely at ease" with his decision.
Oregon and Mississippi State recently offered Anderson, but it sounds like the Louisiana native isn't interested in their overtures.
And that's good news for the Tigers. Anderson was reportedly a standout player at the Under Armour New Orleans camp this past week.
"The LSU commit was one of the best players on the field on Sunday, and it's an easy reason to see why the Tigers have made him a priority early on," noted 247Sports' Bryce Koon of Anderson's performance. "He's the definition of the disruptor and space eater that this roster needs, and that was on full display."
Anderson staying solidly committed to LSU despite the Tigers' loss of defensive line coach Bo Davis (Davis left last week for a job with the New Orleans Saints) is a big accomplishment for Kelly and his staff. Anderson should develop into a key player in Baton Rouge over the next few years.
LSU currently has six players committed to their 2026 recruiting class. Anderson is the highest rated of those commits.
