Mason Taylor put together a phenomenal three-year career with the LSU Tigers. From day one he was an instant impact starter, and he only got better from there. Head coach Brian Kelly couldn't help but praise Taylor all season long last fall as he developed into a true do-it-all weapon for the Tigers. Yet somehow Taylor didn't garner much NFL Draft attention until after the season was over. Not anymore. His draft stock is finally starting to rise, and fast.

The 2025 NFL Draft class is perceived to be rather deep at the position, so until mid-December Mason Taylor was barely projected to be a day two selection. Then, for the next two months, consensus on Taylor seemed to be all over the place as experts debated who the "TE3" should be following Penn State's Tyler Warren and Michigan's Colston Loveland. However, since the NFL Combine he's quickly risen into second round projection territory for the first time this spring. Why is that?

The most obvious reason Mason Taylor's consensus draft stock has likely risen since the NFL Combine has to do with the fact that he was incredible with the media and his team interviews. Everyone I spoke to at the NFL Combine was thoroughly impressed with Taylor, both media and league staff.

Here he is breaking down how he became such a do-it-all weapon for LSU, finding success in every facet, and talking up his teammates.

Another reason many might have Mason Taylor as a rising prospect in the 2025 NFL Draft has to do with something he talked about and then confirmed on the field in workouts: his route running and athleticism.

LSU didn't always require Taylor to put detailed route running on display, but his athletic fluidity and intelligence that helps him set up defenders has been on constant display throughout the Senior Bowl and NFL Combine processes.

Beyond just the interviews and his route running in the on-field time at the NFL Combine, Mason Taylor also put up one of the most impressive gauntlet drills for any tight end ever. That type of thing gets overvalued in many cases, but it does showcase his excellent hands and body control well (as you can see in the post from the NFL below).

As the 2025 NFL Draft approaches, Mason Taylor could see his stock continue to rise as there's still a gap between the top two tight ends and those like him who might be selected somewhere in rounds two and three. Some team may reach to get "their guy" and Taylor could be it.

Taylor may not have had the gaudy stats that a few other tight end prospects in this class did, but as a Hall of Fame legacy (son of Jason Taylor) and one of the more balanced profiles in the class who can do anything a tight end needs to in the pros, he's likely going to represent LSU well and be selected early in the NFL Draft this spring.
