Almost nobody knows wide receivers better than LSU. The Tigers program has become known for producing elite NFL talent at the position for some time now, and multiple league-leading wideouts in the pros currently donned the purple and gold in college. Players like Malik Nabers, Ja’Marr Chase, and Justin Jefferson headline that group.

With that, proven, talented receivers have wanted to come play for the Tigers since the NCAA Transfer Portal became a crucial part of the offseason roster building around CFB. Even before then, high school WR recruiting was a strength in the Bayou. A recent portal report should tempt new head coach Lane Kiffin into trying to land a key playmaker once it opens.

LSU could target former Michigan State WR Nick Marsh in transfer portal

According to Hayes Fawcett, Michigan State star wide receiver Nick Marsh plans to enter the NCAA’s transfer portal. He is expected to be one of the top wideouts in the entire portal, and he has already proven his production and capabilities over the last two season with the Spartans.

Marsh totaled 100 receptions for 1,311 receiving yards and nine touchdowns in his two seasons with MSU. He led the team in receiving in both seasons, showing his potential as a top option in the passing game. He’s also a former ESPN 300 recruit.

Kiffin’s ability to use the past success of former LSU WRs will be put to the test this offseason.

That room underachieved this past season for the Tigers, and that simply cannot be acceptable for a program like LSU. We’ll see who sticks around from this year’s pass catching group, but it wouldn’t shock me if Kiffin found a multitude of transfer wideouts to create the top of the depth chart there.

“The NCAA transfer portal moved from December to January for the 2025-26 school year. FBS and FCS players can officially enter their names in the transfer portal during a 15-day window between Jan. 2-16. Players competing in the College Football Playoff national championship will also be permitted to enter the portal between Jan. 20-24 after their season ends.” — ESPN

Kiffin’s ability to land impactful talent at Ole Miss earned him the nickname of “Portal King” at times. He regularly clocked in with a top ten portal class ranking from multiple sites. The LSU fans are hoping he can translate that sort of success over to Baton Rouge in the coming years as well.

Marsh can be a key domino to fall in Kiffin’s task to build his own offense for the Tigers.
