Lane Kiffin secures the future of LSU Tigers football with huge transfer portal win yet again, stealing from his old team
LSU Tigers added Sam Leavitt and Landen Clark, and Lane Kiffin has now completed his QB room with former five star Husan Longstreet
Lane Kiffin and the LSU Tigers are on fire with all their transfer portal wins. Sam Leavitt is now the answer at quarterback for 2026, with Landen Clark transferring in from Elon as backup. Kiffin has stacked the wide receiver and running back rooms. Both sets of trenches have gotten better. Now, he’s added the finishing touches on his monster of a transfer portal class by adding the LSU Tigers’ future at quarterback too.
Former five star and USC Trojans quarterback Husan Longstreet joins LSU Tigers via transfer portal
Kiffin may not have had a fantastic time as the head coach back in the day for USC, but he had no problem stealing from them now. Husan Longstreet, a five star quarterback recruit (and second year player) from California, was supposed to be the future at quarterback for the USC Trojans, but that’s no longer going to be the case. Longstreet had entered the portal a while ago, but saw his opportunity to join Kiffin as the future at LSU. As of Wednesday, Longstreet has officially signed with the Portal King and the Tigers.
Sam Leavitt, the hyped up quarterback acquisition with a huge contract for 2026, will almost certainly be a one-year rental for Kiffin and LSU as he prepares to likely head to the NFL in 2027. Landen Clark the transfer from Elon, is heading into year three of his career, so he’ll still be around in 2027 if he wants to be for LSU. However, Husan Longstreet is almost certainly the best future play for the program in 2027 and beyond.
Longstreet was a former All-State team player from California who quickly rose up recruiting ranks thanks to his phenomenal dual threat skill set as a passer and runner. He got to flash some of that in limited action this past season for USC, completing over 85% of his passes, scoring three touchdowns, and rushing for nearly 80 yards on less than 50 snaps of offense. His immediate impressive play had many comparing him to Caleb Williams, among other former college football star quarterbacks.
Longstreet will still likely spend most, if not all, of 2026 on the bench behind two capable quarterbacks in Sam Leavitt and Landen Clark, but LSU Tigers fans should be excited for what he’ll bring to the field soon. If Kiffin continues to build up the roster around him to the same degree he already has in just the last two weeks of transfer portal activity alone, the Tigers are going to have a potential championship contending roster for the next few years.
