One of the top defensive backs in the nation is headed to LSU — at least for another official visit.
DJ Pickett is visiting LSU on Friday after already visiting with the program and handful of times this spring. Pickett's close relationship with defensive backs Corey Raymond in addition to how much time he's now spent around LSU give reason to believe that the Tigers could be in the driver's seat to ultimately landing his commitment.
But he's been hotly pursued by several other prestigious programs who still have a chance at bringing him onto their roster.
In late February, recruiting analyst Steve Wiltfong reported that LSU, Georgia, Miami (FL), Oregon, Florida and Florida State were all still in the running for Pickett's services. He currently holds over 40 offers from programs all over the nation, though it seems his final decision will come down to LSU or Oregon based on the way recent events have trended.
“Coach Raymond went to LSU — I always liked LSU, but it’s just other things to it. When Coach Raymond got there I was real excited,” Pickett said in an interview with On3. “I grew up watching LSU and how their DBs played and he played a big factor in that. He just keeps it real with me.”
The five-star athlete from Zephyrhills, Florida will bring a number of things to the table for whichever team he lands with after playing both defensive back and wide receiver at the high school level.
