The LSU Tigers are alongside the Ohio State Buckeyes as the premier wide receiver recruiting hub in the country. Any receiving prospect looking for a direct pipeline to the NFL starts with these two options, and then look elsewhere if opportunities dry up, or if the money isn’t right. That’s why it’s not a surprise 2027 No. 3 receiver Monshun Sales has the Tigers “very high” on his early list.

However, the Indiana native and No. 20 overall prospect clearly has the Buckeyes and even the Alabama Crimson Tide higher right now. As the fall approaches, Sales already has three visits planned. He’ll start at Ohio State’s opening game against Texas before hitting Alabama and Notre Dame.

But the Tigers have yet to lock anything in just yet. While LSU tends to elite 2026 receiver Tristan Keys, they’re trying to play spoiler in Sales’ recruitment, too.

Curt Cignetti and Indiana seem like a wildcard, but Sales specifically called out the Hoosiers’ high-energy staff’s track record as a draw.

“Indiana they got Coop (Omar Cooper Jr.), they got Davion (Chandler) and it’s home,” Sales has said. “It’s right around the corner. My mom can come visit me whenever she wants and they made the playoffs. They’re competing and getting better each year.”

“Everywhere they go they win,” Sales stated. “Obviously they’re doing something right.”

Still, LSU doesn’t seem to be too far behind. They’re considered at the top of the next tier alongside Michigan. The massive 6-foot-5, 201-pounder is hoping to make his way to Texas A&M and Missouri, too.

It’ll be a busy fall for Sales if he can fit all of these trips in. Right now, On3’s Recruitment Prediction Machine has Indiana and Michigan favored, but intel doesn’t support those numbers.

LSU doesn’t have any 2027 commits yet but they rank eighth for their 2026 group so far. Three receivers have given Kelly their word thus far, including Keys and four-stars Kenny Darby and Jabari Mack.
