The LSU Tigers continue to close in on landing a number of elite recruits this summer as Brian Kelly and his staff have the program in firm position to pull in another top tier recruiting class for 2026.

LSU just wrapped up a recruiting cycle that gave them top ten high school and Transfer Portal classes full of solid players. The program already has nine commits for 2026, and they're officially in the top five for another dozen players set to potentially commit this summer. Now, despite already having a handful of wide receivers committed, LSU looks like they might land another pass-catching playmaker here soon.

Joel Wyatt, Elite 4 Star WR Recruit

Joel Wyatt, a rising four star wide receiver recruit from Tennessee has announced that he will be officially visiting five schools here soon: North Carolina (April 25), LSU (May 30), Tennessee (June 6), Vanderbilt (June 12), and Georgia (June 20). This is likely really going to come down to two or three of those programs, but he's headed to all five.

Joel Wyatt has been an extremely productive wide receiver for two years now with a long 6'4", 190+ pound frame and unbelievable vertical speed. He's averaged over 20 yards per reception for two years now and tallied close to 1000 yards playing for an offense that only threw the ball barely 200 times last fall.

Wyatt's phenomenal blend of size and speed could end up landing him firmly inside the five star status range considering his rare athleticism, but for now he's "just" a Top 50 player in the nation.

The LSU Tigers have been pursuing Wyatt for quite some time now, joining all the major blue blood programs and many SEC rivals in offering him a scholarship during the summer of 2024. However, it wasn't until this spring that they began pushing hard for him with significant in-person contact. Wyatt just visited LSU in mid-March, and although there wasn't much momentum with him prior to that visit he's still including the Tigers in his finalists.

Most experts and sources A to Z Sports talk to believe Wyatt is still leaning towards Tennessee as they're the in-state school with a high-flying offense (when it's clicking). But their recent turmoil with Nico Iamaleava may have an impact on his perception of the Vols. If LSU can sell him on the trajectory of their program first, since they're the first of four visits in a row to kick off the summer, hopefully he'll shift his gaze towards Baton Rouge.

The main issue with pulling Joel Wyatt may be the fact that LSU already has four wide receivers committed for 2026, but it's still early, and that hasn't stopped the Tigers before from stacking depth at the position. In fact, a recent example of this is Malik Nabers. Despite the fact that LSU was already stacked at wide receiver with several "higher rated" talents joining the class, he still committed in December of his senior year.

LSU could in theory lose Barion Brown, Nic Anderson, Aaron Anderson, Chris Hilton, and Zavion Thomas all from their wide receiver room after this season. Let's hope Brian Kelly and company can close on Joel Wyatt in a similar fashion because he could become the team's next Brian Thomas Jr. with his absurd physical measurables and athleticism.
