The LSU Tigers are starting to gain some real momentum in the transfer portal.

Kentucky wide receiver Barion Brown is likely heading toward the Bayou and they have been in the mix for a lot of intriguing players who could make a major impact. On Sunday afternoon, they landed their quarterback of the future in Mississippi State's Michael Van Buren.

A four-star recruit in the 2024 class, Van Buren is a massive get for the Tigers as they now have their quarterback of the future after Garrett Nussmeier's eligibility expires after the 2025 season.

As a true freshman at Mississippi State, Van Buren was excellent in keeping the Bulldogs competitive. Van Buren completed 54.7% of his passes for 1,886 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Van Buren had a lot of suitors as one of the top quarterbacks in the transfer portal but chose LSU. It's an interesting decision with Nussmeier returning, but he could either beat him out for the job or use his redshirt to have three years of eligibility remaining heading into the 2026 season where the job would theoretically be his.

It's a great get for head coach Brian Kelly, especially after they missed out on five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood. The Tigers have their future at quarterback in a good place moving forward.
