The LSU Tigers are favored by almost 25 points entering their matchup against UCLA in Week 4, but that doesn't mean the program is looking to rest. Head coach Brian Kelly needs to keep the momentum rolling for the Tigers after surviving a tremendous effort from South Carolina last week.
It appears as though the Tigers will be fully stocked on offense.
Kelly announced on his radio show Thursday that Chris Hilton, a redshirt junior wide receiver for LSU football, will participate in the upcoming game on Saturday when the Tigers face off against UCLA.
"We’re going to get him on the field, but this is going to be like getting a toe in the water," Kelly said.
Hilton has been sidelined for the season's first three matches due to a bone bruise on his ankle. According to Kelly, the strategy for LSU involves Hilton gradually increasing his playtime over the forthcoming weeks.
In Hilton's absence, LSU has leaned on the skills of redshirt sophomore Aaron Anderson, junior Zavion Thomas, and redshirt freshmen Kyle Parker and Shelton Sampson, in addition to senior CJ Daniels and fifth-year senior Kyren Lacy, to fill the wide receiver positions.
Despite missing games, Hilton was a standout receiver for the Tigers during the preseason practices. Nonetheless, LSU's offense has managed to maintain an average of 33.3 points and 302.3 yards passing per game without him.
He's played in nine games, totaling 18 receptions for 278 yards and one touchdown over his career.
