The LSU Tigers may have started a bit slower than fans wanted to see from Lane Kiffin and his staff, but they finally have something to celebrate with the latest runs of offensive additions.

No, this isn’t about the alleged Demond Williams quarterback transfer situation. Although that’s something to monitor closely. It’s about the much-needed wide receiver help that the Tigers just added in the wake of losing Aaron Anderson and Barion Brown to the 2026 NFL Draft.

LSU Tigers land Florida Gators WR Eugene Wilson via transfer portal

LSU has long been considered one of the college football programs in the mix for the “WR U” title. Ja’Marr Chase, Justin Jefferson, and a long history of successful wide receivers have come out of LSU and dominated at the NFL level — on top of leading their college teams to elite performances.

However, this past season’s wide receiver group struggled throughout the year because both LSU quarterbacks, Garrett Nussmeier and Michael Van Buren, couldn’t consistently get them the ball. Unless Kiffin and his new staff did something drastic, things looked bleak for the LSU Tigers’ offense of 2026.

Now, in just a matter of two days, Kiffin and company have completely revamped their wide receiver room. First, they added Tre Brown of Old Dominion and Jayce Brown from Kansas State. Now, they’ve added Eugene Wilson, who should be the clear WR1 if he stays healthy, from Florida.

Wilson was such a special talent from day one as a true freshman in 2023 that he essentially grew into the team’s lead wide receiver by season’s end, despite splitting targets with a future first-round player in Ricky Pearsall.

Since then, he’s struggled to stay healthy, but when he is, Wilson has proven to be a do-it-all player that consistently adds a ridiculous amount of yards after the catch (nearly eight yards after catch per reception for his career). Wilson should step in and immediately compete for the lead target role in Kiffin’s offense for the 2026 season.

Jayce Brown and Tre Brown complete LSU’s WR room alongside Wilson

Wilson may earn the lead role, but Jayce Brown and Tre Brown should offer solid upside as well. Jayce Brown was a highlight machine for Kansas State over the last three seasons (as shown in the post below). He averaged over 17 yards per reception as an explosive play threat for the Wildcats.

Many thought he might enter the NFL Draft, given that he was likely a mid-round pick, but he chose to join LSU.

Tre Brown was even more explosive on a per-reception basis for Old Dominion last season. He played one year of JUCO football before transferring up to the FBS ranks, and immediately found success. He might be a lesser-known and perhaps less proven entity, but the upside could be just as high for him as it is with Jayce Brown and Wilson if he continues to show improvements.

LSU fans might be getting a little antsy with their quarterback situation and the rest of Lane Kiffin’s roster building, seeing as around 30 players have departed for the transfer portal. However, it seems that Kiffin’s build is just beginning — and at least the critical skill position rooms are coming together.
