The Bayou Bengals have landed another piece to the pie on defense. The LSU Tigers have been active in the transfer portal, and their latest addition is arguably their biggest so far on the defensive side of the football.

Jack Pyburn commits to LSU

The Florida Gators transfer EDGE is headed to Brian Kelly's team. He is one of the best edge rushers to enter the portal so far. Pyburn totaled 60 tackles, two sacks, five tackles for loss, and an interception this season.

Nebraska edge rusher Jimari Butler committed to the Tigers on Saturday night. Over the past few days, LSU has shored up their pass rush in an important way.

When Pyburn entered the portal, reports circled regarding his asks from Florida before entering. He reportedly was seeking certain requirements/guarantees in order to return to Billy Napier's program.

Pyburn gave Florida a list of demands, which included $45,000 a month in NIL payments and playing-time requirements such as the starting position and full-time third-down edge rusher… — SI.com

Pyburn has denied those reports and claims, though.

LSU is set to face Florida to open SEC play. Pyburn will get a chance to play against his former squad right off the bat for the Tigers.

Tigers' portal additions

As of Monday morning, the Tigers have grabbed six targets in the portal so far.

  • TE Bauer Sharp – Oklahoma
  • CB Ja'Keem Jackson – Florida
  • WR Barion Brown – Kentucky
  • EDGE Jimari Butler – Florida
  • QB Michael Van Buren – Mississippi State
  • EDGE Jack Pyburn – Florida

Expect five of those guys to play a notable amount next season.

Outside of Van Buren, all of those other additions may have a starting role to begin next season. Brown was one of the top wide receivers in the portal, and Sharp was one of the top-ranked tight ends transferring, too.
