The transfer portal has been kind to the LSU Tigers this offseason. Brian Kelly has put in a lot of work to land some of the best available talent around the country. His latest portal win is a major one for the Tigers' defense next year.

Transfer safety commits to LSU

According to Hayes Fawcett, Houston safety A.J. Haulcy has committed to LSU. He was a first-team All-Big 12 selection last season.

Haulcy was the top safety remaining in the portal. The defensive back totaled five interceptions last season on his way to conference honors. Miami and Ole Miss are two other programs who had interest in the DB.

With this, LSU has added 17 players this offseason in the NCAA Transfer Portal. He’s their fifth highest-rated among those additions behind WR Barion Brown (Kentucky), DE Patrick Payton(Florida State), WR Nic Anderson (Oklahoma), and IOL Josh Thompson (Northwestern). The Tigers, with those commitments, are currently at No. 3 overall, per the latest in On3’s 2025 College Football Team Transfer Portal Ranking, behind only Texas Tech and Ole Miss. — On3Sports

Around the SEC, there's plenty of unknown at the quarterback position. A handful of teams are introducing a new starter to the field in CFB's most renowned conference. Other squads have clear competitions that may be decided sometime during the regular season.

Playing the Tigers may not be kind to the passing offenses, particularly after this latest addition in the DB room for Brian Kelly's team.

LSU simply cannot stop adding premier portal talent – it seems. They have revamped their receiving room, defensive line, and secondary over the past few months using the portal. Their roster for next season projects to be one of the best ones in the entire SEC.
