The LSU Tigers 2026 recruiting class is coming together, but there's still critical work to be done. And if the team loses Tristen Keys to a flip here soon (like many believe is coming) then Brian Kelly and his staff may have their work cut out for them down the stretch.

However, the LSU Tigers did just secure an important recruit who could help tip the scales in a battle to land their quarterback of the future to replace Garrett Nussmeier.

Emanuel Tucker, Four Star OL Recruit

Emanuel Tucker, a highly touted four star offensive tackle from Mississippi, just made his commitment announcement this week. He'll be joining Brian Kelly and the LSU Tigers.

This is a huge addition and LSU's second premier offensive tackle talent (alongside Brysten Martinez) that they have lined up to join the team in 2026. That could prove critical in swaying the most important recruiting target of the year for the Tigers.

It's no secret that LSU is completely revamping their offensive line this year, replacing four starters from a year ago. Needless to say there are questions along the offensive front. On top of that, regardless of how well that offensive line protects star quarterback Garrett Nussmeier this year, he is going to be leaving the program for the NFL after this upcoming season.

What does that mean for LSU's future? The team could have major question marks at both offensive line and quarterback very soon. That's where commits like Emanuel Tucker come in.

LSU desperately needs to win a high pedigree quarterback talent on the recruiting front this cycle so they have more viable options for the future. They have Mississippi State transfer Michael Van Buren and Colin Hurley waiting in the wings, but those are two quite unproven quarterbacks.

Brian Kelly and his staff have been going all in to land Bowe Bentley (four star from Texas) this spring and summer, but there's still no word on whether he'll be choosing LSU or Oklahoma. Adding another premier offensive tackle talent like Emanuel Tucker could go a long way towards finally sealing the deal with Bentley.

Like any young quarterback, Bentley likely wants to know the roster is going to be built in a way where he can feel protected with adequate talent around him to succeed. Let's hope this win on the recruiting trail is just enough to give LSU the final edge they need to land their Garrett Nussmeier replacement. Otherwise, the longer the wait on Bentley, the more uncertain the quarterback future looks for LSU.
