The LSU Tigers hit the transfer portal last year looking to fortify a wide receiver room that had two players drafted in the first round of April's NFL Draft in Malik Nabers at sixth overall to the New York Giants and Brian Thomas Jr. selected at 23rd overall to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Tigers did have some talent returning with Kyren Lacy, Chris Hilton Jr. and Aaron Anderson, but they wanted to have at least one more receiver to fortify the outside for new starting quarterback Garrett Nussmeier.

The Tigers targeted Liberty WR C.J. Daniels and got him. It was a widely praised move across the board and there was a lot of excitement going into the year. Ultimately, it didn't work out and Daniels has plans to enter the transfer portal.

Daniels ended up as the fourth-leading receiver for the Tigers, catching 42 passes for 480 yards and zero touchdowns across 11 games. It was a far cry from what he had at Liberty in 2023 when he caught 55 passes for 1,067 yards and 10 touchdowns from Kaidon Salter for the Liberty Flames.

Both players are now in the transfer portal and could find their way to a new team together, as they had a ton of success together. It's a shame it didn't work out with the Tigers, but it wasn't nearly the fit we expected it to be.
