The Miami Hurricanes set a new program first, earning their first-ever College Football Playoff win 10-3 over the Texas A&M Aggies on Saturday afternoon in College Station.

The game was a physical, defensive battle for four quarters. As a result, the Canes came out of the game with a handful of injuries. Most notably, starting middle linebacker Mo Toure suffered a scary injury while making one of the biggest plays of the game. With A&M at the five-yard line, Marcel Reed threw a pass to RB Rueben Owens II. Toure crashed into him and broke up the pass on the goal line. Toure stayed down and was tended to by medical staff. He was clearly woozy coming off the field.

Safety Zechariah Poyser and DT Ahmad Moten, Sr. also got banged up in the game. However, according to Mario Cristobal on “The Joe Rose Show” on Monday morning, all three will likely be available on Dec. 31 against Ohio State in the Cotton Bowl.

Mario Cristobal indicates injured trio should be good for Cotton Bowl against Ohio State

“I feel good about it. They were all on the plane and in great spirits and goofing around. Like you said, they have a couple of extra days. Brother, it’s December in the playoffs, right? Who’s not hurt? Football hurts, and these guys are tough, man. They’re tough. I’m proud of them because you know what? It’s easy to be tough with somebody else’s body, right? So, we do take care of our players to the best of our ability, and then there’s this time where Keionte Scott was just kind of lace them up and go, man.”

Miami has a week and a half before they square off against Ohio State, and while the defense was incredible against A&M, they’ll need a full and healthy contingent in order to have a shot at upsetting the Buckeyes in Arlington.

We’ll see how the injury report goes in advance of the game, but for the time being, it appears as though the prospects for all three are trending positive early on.
