Kentucky basketball landed what now looks to be a perfect fit when they hired Mark Pope to take over the vacancy that was left by John Calipari.

Kentucky is entering the NCAA Tournament with a record of 22-11 and has earned the No. 3 seed. On Friday, the Wildcats will take on No. 14 Troy in the first round. Troy went 23-10 and is representing the Sun Belt.

Ahead of Friday evening’s game in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Kentucky’s Mark Pope has made a major pledge. Pope is willing to pay gas money to get Big Blue Nation to Milwaukee if they need it.

"If anybody is having trouble with gas money, hit me up," Pope said on his radio show Monday night. "Let's go. Let's get all of BBN out there."

Pope is backing up his pledge to Kentucky fans ahead of the NCAA Tournament

Kentucky fans are already requesting help from Pope and he is fulfilling his word. The Kentucky head coach appears to be sending cash for gas to those who need it and can prove that they have tickets to the first-round game against Troy.

Kentucky fans show up and show out no matter where they play, but Pope doing this out of kindness is really neat. It isn’t something that you often see and Pope didn’t have to do it at all. When it is all said and done, the Kentucky head coach is likely going to have dished out a large chunk of cash.

Pope is making $5 million in his first season as the head coach of Kentucky and that doesn’t include incentives, so he will be plenty fine.

Big Blue Nation has a special one in Pope and the job he’s done in his first season with a completely new team can’t be overlooked. If Kentucky can beat Troy, they’ll get the winner of Illinois and Xavier on Sunday.
