The South Florida Bulls came into their top 20 matchup on Saturday against the Miami Hurricanes with a lot of momentum and respect after two ranked wins to start their 2025 season.

They left their matchup this year with Miami in the same way they did last year: greatly outclassed and outscored. For the second straight year, Miami delivered a 35+ point beating of USF, walloping the Bulls 49-12 at Hard Rock Stadium. The Hurricanes rolled South Florida 50-15 last year at Raymond James Stadium.

There was plenty of chirping during the week between Miami and South Florida fans on social media. But it was a Hurricanes standout who got the last word on Twitter/X on Sunday morning.

South Florida came into the contest with arguably the most impressive two-week stretch to start the season of anyone in the country. The Bulls knocked off #25 Boise State 34-7 in the opener on August 30. They followed that up with one of the most shocking results of the young 2025 season, upending the Florida Gators 18-16 in Gainesville on September 6.

The win over Florida garnered a lot of attention for South Florida who leapt from unranked to #18 in the AP Poll after the win – not to mention ratcheted up the pressure on Gators head coach Billy Napier. Chatter began among some talking heads about USF being the possible Group of Five representative in the College Football Playoff come December.

And that still could end up being the case. The Bulls are no fluke, and they should be the favorites to win the American Conference this year.

But Bain and the Hurricanes proved that, at least between the two programs, there’s no doubt which team is superior. Miami is simply built differently on both sides of the line of scrimmage from South Florida, and those advantages will win you games far more often than not.

To the victor goes the spoils and the bragging rights, and it appears as though Bain has no hesitation in enjoying them.
