Five-star wing Anthony Thompson, ranked No. 8 in the 2026 recruiting class by 247 Sports Composite, will visit Michigan officially on September 5th, according to Joe Tipton.

Thompson showcased his elite skills on the Adidas 3SSB circuit this summer, leveraging his size and shooting prowess to average 22 points per game, with 62% field goal accuracy on two-pointers and 39% on three-pointers. He plays high school basketball at Western Reserve Academy in Ohio.

In addition to Michigan, Thompson has official visits lined up with North Carolina (August 22nd), Ohio State (August 29th), Indiana (September 12th), Texas (September 19th), and Kentucky (September 24th). He previously made an unofficial visit to Michigan last year.

Last month, Thompson narrowed his choices to a top-seven list and has arranged official visits to six of those schools, excluding Purdue. He plans to finalize his college decision after completing his visits and intends to sign during the early signing period.

Here is a scouting report courtesy of NBA Draft Room:

“Thompson is a very intriguing long-term prospect who has great physical tools and a world of upside. He’s got good height and exceptional length, plus good athleticism. The 6-7 lefty can hit shots off the bounce and has a knack for getting his own shot, despite not having blazing speed. He’s a got the size and the length to shoot over defenders and is becoming a real threat from downtown. Gets to the rim with long strides and likes to finish with his left. He’s a disruptive and intimidating defender thanks to his size and length. He’s got big upside and it’s going to be really fun to see how his game develops over the coming years.”
