Kenneth Grant is an unbelievable athlete for the defensive tackle position. Michigan Wolverines fans are well aware. And given that he's already expected to be a potential first round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft there are certainly high expectations for him at the NFL Combine, but he may impress even more than many thought if what he told us on Wednesday comes to fruition.

When asked about how he was going to test at the NFL Combine and if he had any specific goals Grant put together two things that shouldn't be possible together. At 332 pounds (he shed some weight for the Combine) he expects to run around 4.9 seconds in the forty-yard dash and bench press 30 reps (or more) at 225 pounds. For reference, that would give him a 99th percentile speed score and bench press result among all defensive tackles in NFL Combine history.

"I'll try to get that in 4.9s, 4.8s, somewhere around there in [in the forty-yard dash]…Yeah I definitely want to get 30+ on the bench press. That's kind of what I'm striving for right now."

This would be an absolutely wild feat of athleticism if Kenneth Grant can pull this off. The only historical comparison ever would be Dontari Poe, who went on to have an incredible career with the Kansas City Chiefs. If Grant tests anywhere near these marks he'll solidify his first round 2025 NFL Draft status.

Kenneth Grant will certainly make Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore and his fellow Wolverines at the NFL Combine proud either way, even if he just falls short of either goal. To even assume this is possible is pretty crazy, but it is possible for a man that can chase down star running backs from behind.

Colston Loveland (tight end), Will Johnson (cornerback), Mason Graham (defensive tackle), and a few more Michigan Wolverines will also be testing this week. We'll make sure to make note of their performances as well here at A to Z Sports, even if they aren't quite as freaky impressive.
