Michigan Wolverines hoping to keep five star WR away from Ohio State as he sets upcoming visits for college football season
Michigan may already be amid their toughest 2027 recruiting battle
The Michigan Wolverines and Sherrone Moore have completely revolutionized their recruiting as a program over the last year. Stealing five star quarterback Bryce Underwood away from LSU. Bringing in a top tier 2025 class full of talent (ranked 8th overall in the nation).
Now they’re ramping up their wide receiver recruiting like never before to help build around their five star phenom QB. Michigan already has a trio of wide receiver recruits locked in for 2026. As of this week, Sherrone Moore and company are making sure their 2027 wide receiver recruiting class is well on its way too.
Monshun Sales, five star WR visiting Michigan Wolverines among other top programs this fall
Monshun Sales is a consensus five star wide receiver recruit in the 2027 class. He’s currently rated as the number two wide receiver in the cycle and the 13th overall player in the entire 2027 class. Sales stands as a monstrous 6’5″, 200-pound offensive weapon that can easily win as an outside “X” receiving threat.
Michigan fans got used to seeing top talents like Devin Funchess, Donovan Peoples-Jones, and Nico Collins dominate using their tall, long, strong frames to handle perimeter corners for years, but that particular archetype has been missing from the last few Wolverines teams. Landing a talent like Sales could definitely change that.
As the college football season is about to kick off, Monshun Sales has set his first big wave of game visits for the fall. Michigan made the list, but they’ll have to build a strong case if they want to keep him away from schools like Ohio State, Alabama, LSU, and more.
Sales is planning to visit Michigan, Alabama, Ohio State, Indiana, Notre Dame, LSU, and Texas A&M (and perhaps others) this fall. He’s logged nearly 40 scholarship offers in all, so he certainly has his fair share of options to choose from.
It’s unclear exactly which way he’s leaning this early in his recruitment, but experts around the country believe Ohio State, Alabama, Michigan, and a few more still have a strong shot at landing Sales.
Sales has visited with Michigan, Indiana, and Ohio State more than any other program in the nation so far–which makes sense given he’s from Indianapolis. It’s still early, so some of the schools not so geographically close to him will have plenty of opportunity to steal him away from the midwest, but early signs suggest he’s certainly open to staying home.
Michigan fans just need to hope that Bryce Underwood sees the field early and often if recruits are going to continue giving the Wolverines a fair shot on the recruiting trail in the near future. After last season’s brutal showing on offense Michigan can’t possibly be worse there, but they need to prove to young playmakers that the program can truly develop them in the Sherrone Moore era.
