The Michigan Wolverines are looking to rebound from a thoroughly uncompetitive outing last week against Texas. They welcome the Arkansas State Red Wolves to Ann Arbor this week.

The Red Wolves are 2-0 with wins over Central Arkansas and Tulsa. This is the first time Arkansas State and Michigan will have ever played.

What do the Wolverines have to do in this one to secure a win ahead of Big 10 play?

Get Kalel Mullings the ball

Last week, running back Kalel Mullings had just six carries the whole game. While the game script did get away from Michigan, I think they abandoned the run far too early last week.

Now facing off against a worse team, it's time to get their engine going. Mullings is an NFL-caliber running back, with good vision, quick feet, and good decisiveness. In my opinion, he's by far Michigan's best running back.

Arkansas State is giving up almost 200 yards a game on the ground this season. The Red Wolves sit 93rd in rushing success rate allowed, 122nd in yards per rush, and 104th in EPA/Rush. This is the perfect outing for a Michigan back to cross 100 yards on the ground for the first time this season.

Contain Arkansas State's explosive offense

Arkansas State might not have the attention of the nation, but they have a fairly potent offense that can catch Michigan off guard if they sleepwalk into this game.

Quarterback Jaylen Raynor is third in the Sun Belt in passing yards and has three touchdowns through the air and two on the ground in just two games. He's not afraid to sling the ball down the field either, boasting an average depth of target of 10.7 yards.

He has a terrific connection with wide receiver Corey Rucker, who is second in the Sun Belt in receiving yards and tied for first in receiving touchdowns as well. When the Red Wolves need a big play, the ball's going Rucker's way.

The Red Wolves also have an experienced and productive running back in Zak Wallace. Wallace scored his 40th career rushing touchdown in Week 1, putting him second among all active FBS running backs (Samson Evans).

I'm not convinced they'll be able to block Michigan's defense for very long, but Michigan will have to stay on their toes. Expect Arkansas State to try and swing for explosive plays early to get some momentum going.
