The Michigan Wolverines had quite the up and down 2025 college football season. They started off with their worst offensive performance from the quarterback position this century, but won some games. The wheels came off as they strung together some embarrassing losses. Then of course they won "The Game" against the Ohio State Buckeyes.
But what's next?
Sherrone Moore has his Michigan Wolverines winning non-stop since beating Ohio State. He landed five star quarterback Bryce Underwood. He led a Wolverines team missing key playmakers to defeat Alabama in their bowl game. Now he's trying to make sure the next generation of his elite defense has the right players to take Michigan back to the College Football Playoff.
Coach Moore was on the road this weekend visiting a pair of star edge defenders at their basketball game on Friday night. Top 50 overall four star edge recruit Carter Meadows and his talented teammate Tyson Harley dominated last fall as one of the best edge rusher duos in the nation and Sherrone Moore clearly wants both of them.
Carter Meadows has been gaining steam as one of the best twitched up edge rushers in the country for two years now. However, his teammate Tyson Harley outproduced him last fall, and has been landing multiple offers in recent weeks.
Coach Moore recognizes that he needs to continue showing great effort with both as they could be a package deal for the Wolverines defense in 2026. Meadows and Harley haven't explicitly stated they would be a package edge rushing duo, but if Moore could lock up half of his future defensive front with one swing it would make sense to do it.
The Wolverines have just lost Josaiah Stewart (EDGE), Mason Graham (DT), and Kenneth Grant (DT), and more to the 2025 NFL Draft. They'll likely lose Derrick Moore, TJ Guy, Rayshaun Benny, and Cameron Brandt soon as well after this season. The Michigan defense will need to reload. Carter Meadows and Tyson Harley may be able to help with that.
