Michigan Wolverines and Sherrone Moore closing in on elite wide receiver recruit for Bryce Underwood as he sets fall visits
Michigan Wolverines could finally have a special playmaker at wide receiver here soon
The Michigan Wolverines are off to a decent start in 2025 with their five star phenom freshman quarterback Bryce Underwood. They’re 2-1, fresh off an easy victory over Central Michigan, and the Wolverines definitely look like they’re trending in the right direction after a tough loss at Oklahoma. However, the one gripe many fans and analysts still have is that the wide receivers simply have not been dynamic enough to help Underwood.
Head coach Sherrone Moore and his staff are trying their best to make sure that changes, and fast, on the recruiting trail. They already have three high pedigree wide receivers committed for 2026. Now they’re closing in on an elite wide receiver recruit in the class of 2027, Dakota Guerrant. Will they actually win this special in-state talent?
Four star WR Dakota Guerrant to visit Michigan twice this fall against Purdue and Ohio State
Dakota Guerrant has been locked in as a top 50 player in the country for over a year now. The speedy, productive, impressive wide receiver from Harper Woods, Michigan has gotten better every year and continues to make unofficial visits with the Wolverines. Yes, he’s unfortunately spent a lot of time with Ohio State an Michigan State as well, but not nearly as much as with the Wolverines.
Now it seems he’s leaning even harder toward the Maize & Blue. Guerrant and his camp made it known on Tuesday (via Ethan McDowell of On3, then other sources) that he will be visiting Michigan not once, but twice this fall. This makes the Wolverines the only program that he’s currently scheduled to see more than once in-season this fall.
Guerrant is slated to see Michigan when they face off against Purdue and then again against Ohio State.
Guerrant has mentioned Michigan as one of his top teams since nearly the beginning of his college football recruiting journey, so it’s no surprise to see the Wolverines so highly prioritized. He also plays his high school football in the Detroit area, so it’s a short trip to go see Michigan play–and for his family to possibly see him play in college.
This battle still looks like it’s between Michigan, Ohio State, Michigan State, and perhaps Texas A&M, Oregon, and Penn State who he most recently visited this summer, but Guerrant certainly seems like a Wolverines lean at the moment.
If Bryce Underwood and the offense around him continues developing, proving that they can create decent wide receiver production, that should go a long way towards finally landing an elite difference maker at the position. They can get all of the tight ends they want already. It’s time they land a possible first round wide receiver in Guerrant.
