The Michigan Wolverines and Sherrone Moore look like they're putting together a roster that should still be able to compete with the best in the nation if their quarterback play is improved at all from a year ago. However, the biggest question on the team still looks like it's the wide receiver position. And unfortunately, coach Moore and his staff continue to lag behind in recruiting there.
Yes, Michigan does have one wide receiver recruit committed for the 2026 recruiting class already, but he's a three star (with some decent speed). And yes, coach Moore and his staff do have 48 scholarships offers out to wide receivers in the 2026 recruiting class. However, that doesn't change the fact that the team is struggling to recruit the position. And with their latest scholarship offer Michigan proved yet again how far behind they are with so many of the top wide receiver recruits.
Jabari Brady, Four Star WR Recruit
For those who live deep in the weeds of college football recruiting, Jabari Brady is a name you've likely known for multiple years now. When Brady debuted on the recruiting site rankings for 247Sports, On3, and more he was a consensus five star projection back in 2023. He's since fallen down the board a bit as a mere highly touted four star, but he's still one of the best in the nation.
Despite his hype and dominance on the 7-vs-7 circuit for multiple years Michigan just only now offered Brady a scholarship this week. 40 other schools beat them to the punch on targeting one of the most highly coveted wide receivers in the country.
The Florida product is assumed to be an eventual Miami commit by many, but still has plenty other top offers to consider before locking in his commitment. Still, Michigan's interest is so late here that unless they push all-in with some phenomenal NIL situation their scholarship offer likely ends up being purely ornamental for Brady to wear as yet another decoration–not a serious offer.
This kind of late offer nonsense on top tier talents simply cannot continue if Michigan hopes to land real talents at the wide receiver position to build around five star quarterback Bryce Underwood. It's nice to have a talented passer like Underwood, but if he doesn't have any trustworthy top notch wide receiver weapons then Michigan isn't going to get the most out of him.
Michigan has four more official visits coming up with wide receiver recruits, but one of them is Jaylen Pile who's already committed for 2026. If the Wolverines fail to land Zion Robinson, Christian Ward, or Travis Johnson (three high pedigree official visits upcoming) then Michigan fans will seriously have something to panic about with the wide receiver class this year.
After ranking outside the top 100 in most meaningful offensive categories last season it makes sense that the receiver recruiting might be a difficult task, but fans were likely hoping that a five star quarterback would help. So far that's not the case. Hopefully some of the Bryce Underwood hype can corral one or two more playmakers, but until Sherrone Moore can convince incoming talents that he will–or even possibly can–feature wide receivers that's going to be a problem area for Michigan.
