Sherrone Moore and his staff continue to look more impressive by the day. They beat Ohio State and Alabama to finish out the 2024 college football season. They locked in the 8th ranked recruiting class for the 2025 cycle, including the number one overall player in the country in five star quarterback Bryce Underwood. Now they're trending strongly towards several more wins off the field.

Coach Moore and company have been hitting the recruiting trail hard this offseason, making visits left and right to all their top targets for 2026. That hasn't paid off with any new commitments just yet, but they're locking in a ton of official visits, and as of this week Michigan just took a massive lead with one of their most important recruits for next year.

Javian Osborne, Four Star RB Recruit

Javian Osborne, a four star running back recruit ranked 60th in the country has just been predicted to land with Michigan via multiple recruiting experts (from both 247Sports and On3).

Why the sudden confidence that Osborne will land with Michigan in the middle of February? The Wolverines' primary competition to land Osborne just took a major hit.

Osborne had recently announced which schools his official summer visits would be with, including Michigan, Texas, Miami, and SMU. The Texas Longhorns had long been considered Michigan's main competition in Osborne's recruitment as he is from Texas and Steve Sarkisian's teams have been sending running backs to the NFL quite often recently.

However, as of last week Texas had to make a change at running back coach since Tashard Choice (their RB coach last year) just left to join the Detroit Lions. Sarkisian immediately turned around and hired Chad Scott, which for some recruits seemed to be a good thing. Not the case with Osborne, apparently. He and his family subsequently canceled their official visit that was scheduled for June, leaving Michigan in prime position to take advantage.

Osborne has been in close contact with Sherrone Moore and staff constantly in recent months, reportedly had some unofficial visits with staff in December, and is now set to visit the Wolverines in the spring and summer. June 20th might be a big day for Michigan fans as Osborne's final recruiting visit of the 2026 cycle will take place with the Wolverines on that date.

Now that veteran running backs Kalel Mullings and Donovan Edwards are both off to the NFL Draft, rising sophomore Jordan Marshall will need a solid partner to share the Wolverines backfield with soon. If Coach Moore and his staff can just close the deal with Javian Osborne then the legacy of dominant Michigan backfields will almost certainly continue.
