On Saturday, the Michigan Wolverines will kick off their 2025 season by taking on the New Mexico Lobos. The team will be using this first game as a tune-up before they travel to take on the Oklahoma Sooners in Week 2.

Michigan has announced a few starters, such as star freshman quarterback Bryce Underwood, but unlike other schools, it has yet to release a depth chart ahead of this Week 1 matchup. Embracing the spirit of competitiveness and maybe some moderate pettiness, New Mexico saw a prime opportunity to take a small stab at trolling the Wolverines over this decision.

New Mexico Releases Hilarious Depth Chart

In an effort to troll the Wolverines, New Mexico released a rather unique depth chart on Tuesday. Since the Wolverines have refused to do so, the Lobos decided to match that effort to not reveal any potential starters or role players ahead of their matchup.

When New Mexico decided to release their depth chart, they put a twist on it. The offensive side of the ball was made up of fictional characters played by actor Tom Hanks, while the defensive side of the ball was characters played by Tom Cruise, and special teamers were all roles filled by Leonardo DiCaprio.

This is incredibly well done, and the team that came up with it should pat themselves on the back for a job well done.

However, I’d argue that “Sully” should be the starting quarterback for his cool, calm demeanor in an incredibly stressful situation. Additionally, Ethan Hunt and Jack Reacher should absolutely be defensive backs instead of defensive linemen (unless we’re talking about the Alan Ritchson version of Reacher). Food for thought.

Michigan will kick off against New Mexico at 6:30 Central and will be available to watch on NBC and Peacock.
