The Nebraska Cornhuskers have a very bright future in this new era of college football. Matt Rhule has officially turned this program around. They may not be the big-time school that wins championships like they used to be, but they feel like they are on their way back to that.
Let's be honest here: they have been 5-1 for the first time since 2016. And when you factor in the recruiting they're doing, it would appear that their future is going to be super bright. According to 247 Sports, the Cornhuskers have the 26th-ranked class in 2025, and they already have a few three-stars committed to them for the 2026 class. The recruiting is going much better than it was at the end of the Scott Frost era.
And, to make things even better, one of their 2026 recruits, and committed players, just did something in high school that you really don't see a ton of college players do.
We all love Dylan Raiola, and, why wouldn't you? He's a pro, meaning, he handles himself the right way, is very good, and he's humble. That's some of the major things you want in a quarterback. Then, you factor in that he's only a freshman. He has a very bright future, as does his brother, Dayton, who's committed to the Huskers for 2026.
Dayton will get to the Huskers when Dylan may be in his last year, just before he enters the draft. So, we could get six or seven straight years of a Raiola at QB for the blackshirts. And, to make things better, Dayton is pretty good, too.
On Friday night, he and Buford High School had one of the best high school highlights you will see. He threw the ball for what feels like 60 air yards, for a touchdown. He has a cannon, and there are quite a few college QBs who can't throw it that far with accuracy.
The kid is going to be good. I guess those Raiola's are just built differently.
