Notre Dame football may have just found the next Kyle Hamilton recruiting story – extends offer to fast rising Florida standout
Could Notre Dame have just found the next Kyle Hamilton?
Notre Dame football just extended an offer to a 6-4, 200-pound safety from the Southeast who has been underrated by every recruiting service so far. Does that sound familiar to anyone? Anytime that head coach Marcus Freeman and the Fighting Irish extend an offer to a safety with that body type, everyone is going to be reminded of former Irish star Kyle Hamilton, and for good reason. He was a generational talent, one of the very best to ever come through South Bend.
2027 Miami (Fla.) Norland safety Alan Blackshere is a very intriguing player and was offered by the program this week. When you pop on his film from last season, it is easy to get excited about the giant defensive back. The combination of athleticism, size, and potential is something special. There just aren’t a lot of safeties with this style and athletic profile walking around, and that makes Blackshere a very unique target.
There is a basic question to consider: Why is Blackshere not ranked right now? If you think back to Hamilton’s recruitment coming out of the state of Georgia, he was also very underrated. Going into his senior season, most platforms only had him rated as a three-star player overall. That ranking eventually rose to five-star status as more people got eyes on Hamilton. It feels like the same could happen for Blackshere in the future.
With Notre Dame already holding offers from defensive backs Xavier Hasan, Ace Alston, and Khalil Terry in the 2027 recruiting class, that group is quickly filling up. Could a player like Blackshere cap it off? While it is early to tell, he feels like the type of athletic freak to take a bet on. Even if he is raw in some ways right now, the upside is immense. A good secondary coach would have a lot to work with the Florida standout.
Alan Blackshere’s recruiting background
Despite an outstanding blend of talent and upside, Blackshere has yet to be ranked by any of the major recruiting platforms. His offer list, however, is going to demand that to change very quickly. Some of the prominent programs that have offered the Florida native so far include the Fighting Irish, Alabama, Florida, Texas A&M, Auburn, Florida State, Nebraska, Pitt, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, West Virginia, Stanford, and UCF, among many others. There is no reason to believe that his offer list won’t continue to expand this offseason.
