Calling the state of wide receiver recruiting at Notre Dame an issue would be a massive understatement. After how the program fizzled throughout the 2025 cycle, everyone was hoping for a better overall process in 2026. So far it hasn’t been much different, missing on several targets near the top of the Irish board.

Mike Brown and Notre Dame are in desperate need of good news, and they received some at the end of the week. 2026 Red Oak (Texas) High School priority wide receiver Brayden Robinson will be making a return trip to South Bend on April 11th for an unofficial visit. That is on top of the official visit he already has scheduled from June 20-22.

With so many top prospects already have taken, or have set up spring visits, many Notre Dame fans wanted to see that list populated with top wide receiver recruits more. Getting Robinson to take multiple trips to South Bend this offseason is very promising.

That obviously doesn’t make Notre Dame the team to beat for Robinson, but it greatly increases their chances. They will have to battle a long list of prominent programs, including Miami and Ohio State, both of which also have official visits finalized with Robinson. It won’t be easy, but the Irish have put themselves in a good position.

The program is in desperate need for pass catchers who can make things happen in space. That is Robinson’s specialty.

Robinson is coming off of a monster junior year with Red Oak, where he led the team with 79 receptions for 1,119 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns. He was also the team’s top punt and kick returner as a junior.

Despite being a diminutive pass catcher at 5-8 and 165 pounds, Robinson has been pursued early and often by a long list of notable football programs due to his playmaking talents. The Texas native holds offers from the Irish, Ohio State, Texas, Oregon, LSU, Michigan, Tennessee, Auburn, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Nebraska, and Penn State among a long list of schools.

247Sports has Robinson rated as a four-star and the No. 40 wide receiver in the 2026 recruiting class. Their platform also has him pegged as the No. 35 overall player in Texas, a state that develops next level talent as well as anyone in the entire country. Robinson is ranked similarly on the 247Sports Composite ranking, pegged as the No. 325 overall player on that ranking. His game is a lot bigger than that ranking.
