In the 2027 recruiting class, there is a good argument that there may not be a player better than Roswell (Ga.) Blessed Trinity Catholic pass rusher DJ Jacobs. The talent is easy to see, as is the upside that Jacobs brings to the table. There is a long list of programs that are already coming after the Georgia star.

That includes Notre Dame, who offered Jacobs during the Pot of Gold offer event on St. Patrick’s Day. Less than two weeks later, Jacobs already set up his first visit to South Bend, he is scheduled to be checking out the campus on Friday to see spring practice.

Jacobs is considered to be one of the elite prospects in the 2027 recruiting class right now. On the 247Sports ranking, Jacobs is currently rated as the No. 2 overall player, No. 1 EDGE, and No. 1 player from the state of Georgia in the class. The 247Sports Composite ranking has him pegged similarly, currently sitting as the No. 4 overall player in 2027.

The offer list matches the rankings for Jacobs. Some of the top programs who have offered him so far include the Fighting Irish, Georgia, Ohio State, Alabama, Michigan, Texas, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Penn State, USC, Auburn, Texas A&M, Florida State, Kentucky, Arkansas, Mississippi State, South Carolina, Indiana, West Virginia, Georgia Tech, Boston College, Duke, and Cal among others.

As a sophomore, Jacobs was unstoppable. The 6-5, 220-pound pass rusher was able to collect 116 total tackles, 31 tackles for loss, and 11 sacks in 13 games. Jacobs also forced a fumble, recovered two others, and blocked three punts on the season.

With the demand for Jacobs’ talent from all across college football, the deck is going to be stacked against Notre Dame. Getting a visit from him this early, however, is significant. This gives the Irish staff a great opportunity to make a strong impression.
