Notre Dame receives some bulletin board material from Bob Stoops ahead of matchup against Ohio State
Former Oklahoma Sooners head coach Bob Stoops joined KREF The Ref on Monday morning and he shared some thoughts on the national championship showdown between the Fighting Irish and the Buckeyes.
Stoops said he "for sure" is going with Ohio State over Notre Dame.
"I'm really looking forward to it," said Stoops of the national championship game. "They're two really good teams. I worry Notre Dame, offensively, if they have enough. Notre Dame, they don't make as many big plays. And although they've made enough and they've run the ball tough enough to stay in it, I think they'll have a hard time with Ohio State."
"Oh yeah, for sure," responded Stoops when asked if he's learning toward the Buckeyes beating the Fighting Irish.
"Again, I think Notre Dame's going to have a hard time with the overall talent of Ohio State," added Stoops.
Stoops, like most of the rest of the country, seems to think it's a foregone conclusion that Ohio State will beat Notre Dame.
Maybe that's what happens. We'll see on January 20.
But I'm not sure doubting Marcus Freeman is wise. Ohio State may have the more talented roster, but Freeman has proved over the last few weeks that he's an elite head coach that will have his team ready to compete at a high level. Ohio State might be the favorite, but it wouldn't be a surprise to see the Irish come out on top.
A little extra bulletin board material certainly won't hurt Notre Dame's chances.
