Notre Dame football is busy with spring practices right now, but the Fighting Irish staff is still busy also recruiting key targets in the 2026 recruiting class. The group is off to a good start, but a lot of closing is needed. That includes a couple of very talented high school teammates who are heading back to South Bend on Friday.
Those teammates are Garner (N.C.) South pass rusher Ebenezer Ewetade and offensive tackle Ekene Ogboko. Notre Dame has been pursuing both at a high level, and the interest has been reciprocated. This visit could be huge to strengthen their chances.
Ewetade is considered to be a four-star on the 247Sports Composite ranking. They have him rated currently as the No. 152 overall player, No. 16 EDGE, and No. 10 player in the state of North Carolina for the 2026 recruiting class. Some of Ewetade’s top offers include Georgia, Ohio State, Alabama, Florida State, and Miami among many others.
The 6-4, 221-pound pass rusher put together a tremendous junior season. In nine games, he collected 82 total tackles, 28 tackles for loss, 10 sacks, four forced fumbles, and 27 quarterback hurries. Notre Dame is considered to be the front runner for Ewetade right now.
Ogboko is ranked inside of the top 100 overall players nationally by various platforms. 247Sports has him pegged as the No. 36 overall player, No. 3 interior offensive lineman, and No. 3 player in the state. Ogboko has an elite offer list that includes Georgia, Alabama, Ohio State, Tennessee, LSU, Miami, Florida, USC, Florida State, Auburn, Texas A&M, and Clemson among others.
The Irish are in the top group for Ogboko, but there is a lot of work to do. They are battling schools like Georgia, where his brother currently plays defensive tackle. The staff needs to impress again this weekend.
