Notre Dame has several key 2027 recruiting targets that hold the key to putting together another elite group
These top 2027 recruiting targets are the most important for Notre Dame to be able to close on another elite haul of future players.
Notre Dame football recruiting is off to a very strong start for the 2027 class. That includes closing on star running backs Lathan Whisenton and Isaiah Rogers over the last week or so, and that momentum promises to continue in the coming weeks.
Head coach Marcus Freeman and the Fighting Irish have several top targets on the board that could be the difference between signing another elite class or not. There are six players who are most important for the Notre Dame class right now. It would be an impressive group if the team is able to close on the majority of them.
QB Kamden Lopati – Salt Lake City (Utah) West
Lopati is currently committed to Illinois, but he is clearly open to other options right now. The 6-3, 220-pound passer is fresh off a visit to South Bend, and the vibes are high for the team’s chances to make a flip happen. Notre Dame only has three quarterback offers out there right now, with Lopati being the most likely answer right now. It’ll come down to whether Notre Dame made their pitch too good to pass up.
WR Julius Jones Jr. – Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas
With Jones being a Notre Dame legacy, there is a lot of pressure on the staff to close this one out. He is a dynamic wide receiver who excels most working after the catch. The Irish are fighting against Oregon as the top contenders for the talented pass catcher. There is no reason for Notre Dame not to get this one done.
WR Quentin Burrell – Chicago (Ill.) Mount Carmel
While Jones is the dynamic space weapon, Burrell is the bigger boundary presence that this team needs more of on the roster. At 6-3 and 275 pounds, he has the chance to develop into an important pass catcher down the road. Notre Dame was in a great spot with Burrell early on in this recruiting process, but then it began to fade a bit. Now with an even playing field, wide receivers coach Mike Brown has a chance to prove what his recruiting impact really is.
TE Jaxon Dollar – Denver (NC) East Lincoln
Notre Dame has recruited and developed the tight end position as well as any program historically. Dollar is an outstanding passing game weapon at 6-5 and 22 pounds, with a ton of room to grow. The Irish were able to land Ian Premer during the last recruiting class, and potentially pairing him with Dollar in back-to-back years would be elite.
EDGE Abraham Sesay – Exton (Pa.) Downingtown East
At 6-5 and 225 pounds, Sesay is an extremely long pass rusher with all the upside in the world. Notre Dame has done a much better job closing on talented defensive ends recently, including Bryce Young, Rodney Dunham, and Ebenezer Ewetade. Sesay could continue that momentum, and the Irish are in a great spot right now.
DT David Folorunsho – Chicago (Ill.) St. Patrick
At 6-4 and 285 pounds, Folorunsho is an outstanding athlete for a defensive tackle. Whenever there is a player this talented in Notre Dame’s backyard, they need to close on them, especially when their high school head coach is Tom Zbikowski. Folorunsho has elite upside, and there is no reason for Notre Dame to miss on that type of player.
