Notre Dame football moves one step closer to trying to pry away an all-purpose weapon from a long list of elite programs
Notre Dame is trending for one of the best all-around players in the 2027 recruiting class.
With the success we have seen from superstar running back Jeremiyah Love in a Notre Dame uniform the last three seasons, recruiting the running back position will be no issue for the foreseeable future. That is especially true considering the recruiting prowess of Ja’Juan Seider and head coach Marcus Freeman. With Notre Dame bringing in an elite two-man class in 2026, they are already pushing heavily for several top 2027 options.
One of the top options on the board for the 2027 recruiting class right now is Chandler (Ariz.) Basha running back Noah Roberts, who visited South Bend this season. The Irish staff has made quite an early impression on the Arizona native, so much so that they were included on his Top-Ten schools list. Notre Dame was joined by Ohio State, Texas, Michigan, Oregon, Oklahoma, Tennessee, USC, Washington, and Arizona State on that list.
Notre Dame has managed to put itself in great standing with several top running back options on the board right now. The Irish are in a good spot with Roberts right now, but they have to be ready for a battle. There are a ton of top programs that are also pushing for him right now, and there isn’t a commitment timeline in sight. The Irish must remain patient to hopefully close on the dynamic athlete in the end.
Noah Roberts’ recruiting background
Roberts is considered to be a four-star player by each of the major recruiting platforms. On the 247 Sports Composite ranking, Roberts currently sits as the No. 105 overall player, the No. 6 running back, and the No. 1 player in the state of Arizona for the 2027 recruiting class. ESPN has Roberts rated highest, currently sitting as the No. 51 overall player on their ranking.
While the recruiting rankings are outstanding for Roberts, his offer list is even more impressive. Some of the top programs that have offered the Arizona native includes the Fighting Irish, Alabama, Ohio State, Texas, Michigan, Oregon, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Penn State, Texas A&M, USC, Miami, Florida State, Nebraska, Indiana, Vanderbilt, Washington, SMU, Arizona State, Kansas State, Utah, UNC, Oklahoma State, Colorado, Iowa State, UCLA, Arizona, Cal, Wisconsin, UCF, Kansas, and Oregon State, among others.
Roberts is an all-purpose monster for a talented Basha team. The 6-1, 190-pound athlete managed to rush for 761 yards and eight touchdowns on the ground as a junior. He also hauled in another 50 receptions for 562 yards and six touchdowns as a receiver. That versatility would be a really intriguing fit with offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock.
