Notre Dame football and Mike Denbrock predicted to land one of the most dynamic passing game weapons in the 2027 recruiting class
Notre Dame football is recruiting at a very high level under head coach Marcus Freeman. They are predicted to land a big time offensive playmaker.
Although the tight end depth chart is a bit thin right now, Notre Dame football has recruited and developed the position as well as anyone historically. Offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock not only leads the Fighting Irish offense. He also leads tight end recruiting, and prioritizes what players he wants to pursue most.
In the 2027 recruiting class, there isn’t a bigger target for Coach Denbrock than Denver (N.C.) East Lincoln tight end Jaxon Dollar. It’s still pretty early in his recruitment, but there is a growing belief that Notre Dame could be setting the tone of this recruitment. Mike Singer, who is a recruiting insider over at Blue and Gold Illustrated, recently put him in a prediction for Dollar to land with the Fighting Irish.
As of today, there is no timetable for a decision that Dollar or his support system has solidified. Notre Dame is positioning themselves to be in the driver’s seat when one is decided, but only time will tell. This would be another great victory in the state of North Carolina for head coach Marcus Freeman if they can land Dollar in the end.
Jaxon Dollar recruiting background
Dollar is considered to be a top-100 overall player by multiple of the major recruiting platforms. On the 247 Sports Composite ranking, Dollar currently ranks as the No. 72 overall player, the No. 4 tight end, and the No. 4 player from the state of North Carolina for the 2027 recruiting class. That is a state that is more and more regularly putting out high level talent.
If Notre Dame does win out for Dollar, they would be doing so against an extremely impressive offer list. Some of the top programs that have offered Dollar include the Fighting Irish, Georgia, Ohio State, Alabama, Texas, Michigan, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Penn State, Florida, Florida State, Texas A&M, Miami, Auburn, Clemson, South Carolina, Missouri, NC State, UNC, Kentucky, Vanderbilt, Virginia Tech, Louisville, Arkansas, Boston College, Cincinnati, and Purdue among others.
As a junior, Dollar has been a dynamic pass game weapon for East Lincoln. The 6-5, 222-pound has managed to haul in 24 receptions for 673 yards and 14 touchdowns. That is an average of 28 yards per reception, an absurd number for a tight end his size. On top of completing a 63-yard pass, Dollar has also recorded 23 total tackles, seven tackles for loss, two sacks, two pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and a blocked kick on defense.
Calling Dollar an outstanding athlete is a massive understatement. This is an elite talent with unreal upside.
